The goal of developing the membership of W.C. Abney PTA is to build an informed team of individuals working on behalf of all children and youth. By increasing our PTA’s membership, we will energize our PTA, increase our volunteer power, strengthen the connection between home and school, and make positive changes for all children. The larger our PTA, the more resources we have to speak for every child with one voice.
INVOLVING MEN IN PTA
Membership in PTA is open to anyone who is concerned about the education, health, and welfare of children and youth. Yet, many people automatically think of mothers when they hear “parent involvement” and “PTA.” Women are vital to fulfilling PTA’s mission, but male involvement in PTA should not be discounted.
When speaking of male involvement, we are referring to not only biological fathers, but stepfathers, adoptive fathers, foster fathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, family friends, and other male role models. All men can offer valuable contributions to our school, PTA, and children’s lives.
MEN, YOUR INVOLVEMENT IN PTA:
- Shows added interest in your children’s education and school activities.
- Shows greater support for your children’s teachers and school.
- Improves relationships between parents and school personnel.
Getting involved in PTA doesn’t necessarily involve a large time commitment. There are no volunteer requirements when joining, but your membership will help maximize and support your involvement in your children’s lives.
Abney men, we’d love to have you join our PTA/PTSA. Abney women, please ask the men in your children’s lives to join (use your influence)!
