Health and Wellness

The goal of the Health and Wellness board aligns with the National PTA. Maintaining student’s health requires a variety of strategies, including:

  • A nutritious diet
  • Plenty of physical activity
  • Strong mental health and emotional support
  • Strategies to combat threats such as hunger, substance abuse and chronic conditions

Healthy students are absent less often, experience fewer behavior problems and have an easier time learning while at school.

The three large programs that this committee oversees are:

Clean Air Campaign

Children are great motivators. They’re positioned to effect real change; they only need the right tools to get started. Through our Clean Air Campaign Schools programs, The Clean Air Campaign works with Georgia schools, preK-12, to engage the next generation in our vision today. These programs encourage entire school communities to get involved in reducing air pollution and traffic congestion in school zones statewide. And they inspire students to take the lead in improving air quality in their own communities.
