Lend a Hand, Together We Can…
Did you know that parent involvement increases student achievement? Defined in the broadest sense, parent involvement relates to a child’s life at home, in school and in the community. Research has proven the engagement of parents (or positive role models touching the life of a child) has little to do with the color of one’s skin, where someone lives, or the size of their paycheck. Parent involvement is about parents talking, listening, reading, and laughing with their children. But, it also means parents and educators talking, listening, and working with each other while focusing on the child. The W.C. Abney PTA is an effective means of bringing parents and teachers together. The PTA consists of parents and community members who have volunteered time, energy, and expertise to be advocates for and to improve the lives of children.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. The teachers, students, staff, and PTA of W.C. Abney Elementary School greatly appreciate the time you are willing to share through your volunteer work. Your participation will help to create a supportive educational community at Abney.
