Reflections is an arts recognition and achievement program established in 1969 by National PTA. Since that time, over 10 million students have participated nationwide. The goal of the program is to celebrate all children’s gifts and talents, and to give children who never have tried creating a work of art a chance to experiment. Each year, the Reflections program challenges students in preschool through grade 12 to create art that supports a specific theme. Kids are asked to think about the theme and give their interpretation within six categories: visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, film/video production, and dance choreography. The 2014/15 program theme is “The world would be a better place if…”.
W.C. Abney PTA encourages our students to participate in this valuable opportunity to pursue artistic expression. All students are invited to learn and work on their art at an afternoon workshop.
National PTA does not limit the number of entries a student may submit. The judging will begin immediately after the submission deadline. Awards will be given for first and second place in each category for each grade. The winning entries will then be submitted into the Paulding County competition. But it doesn’t stop there! Entries can go as far as the national level.
Official Rules for these categories can be obtained at www.georgiapta.org.
